Animal experiments are neither ethical nor good science. Countless animals are still tortured in laboratories across the world to test cosmetics - suffering for human vanity. Toxicity tests, designed specifically to see how much of a substance it takes to kill an animal, tell us little or nothing about the danger of that same substance to humans. In addition, many experiments are undertaken simply as part of a profit-making pharmaceutical racket - testing re-branded drugs which are virtually identical to others which have already been tested at the expense of countless animal lives. Yet the public is largely ignorant of the issue. People assume that the experiments must be directly responsible for medical advances. That's certainly the propaganda that the vivisection industry gives out. Yet what about that huge incidences of medical problems caused by drugs which have passed through animal tests? How often are drugs withdrawn from the market because side-effects have been discovered? If animal testing actually served the function claimed for it, then there wouldn't be such mistakes. If you want to see clear evidence of the futility of testing drugs on animals that are intended for use, then just look at the tragic case of Thalidomide and the birth defects it caused. This was a drug designed to be taken by expectant mothers, which had been tested on pregnant animals who clearly didn't react to it in the way that humans do. I've yet to hear a good explanation of that from the pro-vivisection lobby.

lyrics
Vivisection - do you think it's good? Animals in cages - covered in blood. LD50 just has no use - pointless, mindless animal abuse. Vivisection - too many people don't care, perhaps because they're unaware. The reality is more like a nightmare - slaughtered for a hairspray, do you really think it's fair?

Dead Cross, Retox, and Qui members dish out subversive hardcore with an indignant smirk; come for the riffs, stay for the synth experiments. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 31, 2024
