Our consumerist culture leaves people in a stupor. Just look at the garbage that's churned out in the name of entertainment these days - 'reality' TV shows, celebrity-mania, endless propaganda aimed at making you think that the purpose of life is just to work hard, buy products and keep your mouth shut. Our society is becoming de-politicised, with people becoming more and more concerned purely with their own lives, or with 'celebrity' trivia, and less about the real community around them. Why are we settling for this? As the title of this song says, that sort of existence is like junk food - it fills a gap, but is neither rewarding nor fulfilling. Demand more... from yourself.

Dulled into unconsciousness by satellite TV and the tabloid press. Junk food for the human mind makes for a malnourished humankind. You have no reason to exist but to work for the cash to get you pissed. An uncomplicated life, but at what cost? Your imagination has been lost. A modern lobotomy is what you've got - a brain full of rubbish left to rot. It's true that ignorance is bliss, but there must be more to life than this.
