about

Since the end of the Second World War, the USA has acted like a global bully-boy - pushing its military and economic weight around in order to get its way. With the collapse of the Soviet Union and its Empire, the USA has taken on the mantle of the world's only superpower - and a self-appointed role as the policeman of the world. Since the events of 9/11, this role has been enhanced due to the passive acceptance by countries such as the UK of the right of the USA to act in this way. This plays right into the hands of the ultra-Conservative right-wing in the US administration. In 1997 a group of ultra-Conservatives in the US, calling themselves the 'Project for a New American Century', set out the case for 'American global leadership' and the foreign policies needed to produce it. It's a worrying document - made even more so in hindsight, and when you see some of the names who were signatories to it: Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz - all names of those who became particularly influential in the Bush administration after 9/11. George W Bush's brother Jeb, who was implicated in potential voting irregularities which may have helped his brother actually gain power, is another one of the signatories. If you want to know where the rationale behind Bush's "Axis Of Evil" speech comes from, look no further than the guiding statement of the Project for a New American Century. If you want to know why a decision to invade Afghanistan was made so hurriedly after 9/11, or why the decision to invade Iraq had clearly been made long before anybody was in a position to report on its alleged weapons of mass destruction, then look no further than the guiding statement of the Project for a New American Century. The USA stands accused of too many crimes itself to be able to act as the world's police force, and the people detained without trial at Guantanamo Bay show that the US administration itself has scant regard for international law. Instead they show that powerful forces in the country are looking to create a New World Order, where US interests come above those of the rest of the world at any cost. The rest of the world must unite and resist such delusions of megalomania.

lyrics

New World Order - new Fourth Reich - a totalitarian power scheme. Clinton, Bush, Reagan - they're all alike. World domination is their dream. The USA as the world's police? That must be a sick fucking joke! Fuelled by self-interest and riddled with corruption - that's the sort of police force that they recognise. Heavy-handed, arrogant and hell-bent on destruction - justifying it all with propaganda and lies. When power is given to the world's biggest terrorists, in times of crisis where can we turn? Will they drag the world to the edge of a precipice? Will we have to wait until then to learn?
