about
The world would be a boring place if we were all the same. That’s something that we’ve all heard before, but it’s very true. Yet throughout the world there are people who are trying to bring about conformity in thought and lifestyle as a way of improving their societies. The world that they’re seeking to create is one I wouldn’t want to live in.
There is nothing utopian about uniformity and conformity. Ideologies which seek to stamp out individualism and eliminate the differences between people are seeking to destroy the very things that makes life worthwhile and interesting. The human mind needs stimulation from fresh ideas and new perspectives for societies to evolve. We don’t want to see those ideas stifled by fear of standing out from the crowd.
Fundamentalist religious beliefs, more than any other, follow this pattern. In particular, they all tend to believe in some sort of afterlife which is denied to those who don’t conform. But what is that about, in any case? It is life’s fragility that makes it precious and therefore worth living. It seems that some people are denying themselves the opportunity of living freely today in order to have a chance of eternal happiness in some non-existent utopian heaven.
Live in the real world. Try to change it. Yes, let’s create a better tomorrow, but let’s also be here now and value the things that make life enjoyable.
lyrics
Some people have a dream of a society where we buy all of our shopping from a list on a TV – a pushbutton world with no need to leave our homes, and a computer to talk to if you feel alone. Your dream of the way it could be sounds more like a nightmare to me. Some people have a dream of a utopian state where everyone works like a slave from early morn ‘til late. They talk of overthrowing capitalism – well, that’s fine by me, but there will be no victory unless we can also be free. Some people have a dream of a society that’s pure, with no place for ethnic minorities anymore. A uniform society – one culture and one race, with everyone scared of being out of place. Some people have a dream of a life after death, with no way of drawing your final breath. Failure to enjoy life’s reality makes people wish for immortality.

🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 Loved this band for decades and it's great they're cracking on with the good work both creative and beautifully pleasant with a new vocalist.
Good shit innit 👏
I love the buzzy bee guitar riff on Plight Of The Bumble Bee, excellent stuff 👏

Dead Cross, Retox, and Qui members dish out subversive hardcore with an indignant smirk; come for the riffs, stay for the synth experiments. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 31, 2024
