about
When the Covid-19 outbreak began, as with so many epidemics of the past, there were religious leaders across the world who saw it as some sort of gift from God – to rid the world of non-believers. They were adamant that they and their followers wouldn’t be harmed.
As ridiculous as this may sound, in many ways it is the logical extension of their faith. They believe in an all-powerful deity who must, by definition, be responsible for unleashing these epidemics on the world. To accept that as your truth is to accept that there must be reasoning at work. The early concentrations of infections and deaths in China and Western Europe led some religious leaders in Asia, the Middle East and Africa to appeal to the superstitions and prejudices of their followers and tell them that they had nothing to fear – this was just their god’s way of dealing with heathens.
But, as always, nature and science do not bend to superstition. I wonder what those same religious leaders think now?
lyrics
Where is your God in this?
The global death toll mounting.
Do you see his hand in guidance?
6 million dead, and counting.
The holy and the pious
Have all been forsaken.
Do you still believe in his mercy,
Or has your faith been shaken?

Dead Cross, Retox, and Qui members dish out subversive hardcore with an indignant smirk; come for the riffs, stay for the synth experiments. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 31, 2024
