about
In the aftermath of the attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001, a new kind of missionary zeal has dominated the foreign policies in the USA and the UK. So-called “hawks” within the US Administration, those who advocate aggression in foreign policy rather than diplomacy, massively increased their influence in a country which felt vulnerable in ways it hadn’t done before. Those aggressors found willing allies in a UK government, which was so full of self-righteousness that it was prepared to wage wars overseas in the face of overwhelming opposition from its own people.
The result has been a new form of crusade – a mission to forcibly change the ways and governments of those countries who don’t think and live as we do and who therefore (according to the hawks) are a threat to our way of life. Ten years later, the US and UK are still tangled up in Iraq and Afghanistan after storming in with all guns blazing and no real idea of what they would do afterwards. Justifications for these wars have been tenuous to say the least, and, in the case of Iraq, the UK government were so convinced that they were right, despite the lack of evidence, that they basically made some evidence up to try to convince everyone else. Remember the “Dodgy Dossier”?
Thousands of lives have been lost because of these rash and reckless actions, and many more lives irreparably devastated. Perhaps the World may consider itself fortunate that the US and UK crusades got so bogged down in those two campaigns that it put a block on extending the crusades to any of the other countries which George W Bush conveniently lumped together as an “Axis of Evil”. If that had happened, then we could have been stuck in those same conflicts for generations to come.
lyrics
We’re living in times of a new crusade – first stop was Afghanistan. British troops told to invade to evict the Taliban. 9/11 was an excuse – regime change the true intention. Guantanamo has found a use – a base for indefinite detention. Imperialism’s an age-old story that the “War On Terror” now justifies. Like born-again evangelists – the gleam of the righteous is in their eyes. A country which doesn’t buy into their values can’t expect to be left alone – its landscape may become the location of the crusade’s next warzone.
🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 Loved this band for decades and it's great they're cracking on with the good work both creative and beautifully pleasant with a new vocalist.
Good shit innit 👏
I love the buzzy bee guitar riff on Plight Of The Bumble Bee, excellent stuff 👏
Excellent feckin album.
Money Flows is simply outstanding.

Dead Cross, Retox, and Qui members dish out subversive hardcore with an indignant smirk; come for the riffs, stay for the synth experiments. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 31, 2024
