about
It is the attitude of the super-rich which is so extraordinarily breath-taking and arrogant - the idea that they are somehow deserving of vast riches, in a world where want and hunger are still commonplace.
No matter how many charitable foundations are set up in their name, nobody ever becomes a multi-billionaire without aggressively pursuing a general strategy of tax avoidance, market domination and cost minimisation. Their actions deprive governments of much-needed funds and, by seeking to amass so much personal and corporate wealth for themselves, destroy the livelihoods and financial security of other people.
Despite us being told that the global economy has been growing in the last decade, global wealth inequality is rapidly getting more extreme than it ever was. In 2017, Oxfam reported that the 8 richest people on the planet controlled as much wealth as the poorest 50% of the global population. In the decade following the financial crisis, when many people have been faced with economic insecurity, the wealth of this handful of the most obscenely rich almost trebled. This situation is utterly grotesque. How do they sleep at night?
lyrics
What makes them feel that they’re one in a million –
That they deserve to have more than the million most poor?
National wealth inequality is an obscenity.
We’re too keen to indulge those who want more and more.
What makes them think that they’re one in a billion,
And that the world’s poorest deserve so much less?
Global wealth inequality is an obscenity.
Will we ever learn to get out of this mess?

🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 Loved this band for decades and it's great they're cracking on with the good work both creative and beautifully pleasant with a new vocalist.
Good shit innit 👏

Dead Cross, Retox, and Qui members dish out subversive hardcore with an indignant smirk; come for the riffs, stay for the synth experiments. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 31, 2024
